“Hold on.” Maddox raised one finger in the air, an unamused smile on his face. “You expect me to return to my town a pyroglee lover? You’re out of your mind.”

“The Redwood Forest. I heard some weird stuff about this place. Heard this is where Deputy and Silence disappeared. Them and their two henchmen. What were their names again?”

“You have no idea what you’re doing.” Conrad held the sides of his head with both hands, shaking it. “I mean, come on! You’re going to get yourself killed!”

“You know…Victoria,” said Johnny with an uneasy smile on his face. “We could have done it.” He pointed at himself and Cosmo. “I mean, we got the weapons and stuff. You didn’t have to-”

“I know,” said Victoria, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “He was just getting on my nerves.”
